What Is AutoCAD?

AutoCAD is a commercial, point-and-click, 2D CAD and drafting software application developed and marketed by Autodesk. The application enables users to create and edit 2D architectural, engineering, or construction drawings (CAD drawings) of 2D designs or layouts, and to build 2D models. It can be used for mechanical, civil, electrical, and other architecture, engineering, and construction activities.

The autocad home page

AutoCAD is designed to be used primarily by building and construction professionals, who use its features to create 2D drawings. However, its basic features are designed to be user-friendly and intuitive enough to be used by professionals and hobbyists in a variety of professions, such as home design, engineering, construction, architecture, surveying, drafting, sign and signal, advertising, photography, and animation.

AutoCAD software is used throughout the construction industry, especially for architects, engineers, and construction managers. CAD is used for an increasing number of tasks performed in the construction industry, and often requires a larger time commitment than other types of project management.

Autodesk has increasingly bundled AutoCAD with other products, such as Inventor, a 3D CAD software application.

The current version of AutoCAD is 2016. Prior to that, the current version was 2015. The earliest versions of AutoCAD were released in 1982.

How Does AutoCAD Work?

AutoCAD is software for 2D CAD and drafting, that is, for drawing plans and blueprints and creating dimensioned and scaled drawings. AutoCAD software draws a variety of types of 2D objects and performs a number of operations on those objects. It also produces a range of useful output, such as images, printouts, and other forms of output data.

In AutoCAD, users define the 2D objects to be drawn, typically in layers, or levels, in a sequence that begins with the lowest and ends with the highest. Then, the user draws the objects and makes other modifications. To draw a 2D object, the user first creates the object, then adds dimensions

Integration with popular CAD software
AutoCAD Product Key allows other products such as Inventor, DraftSight, Lumion, Cascade to interoperate and share data with AutoCAD.

In the late 1980s, Autodesk (then called Orion Corp) began to sell AutoCAD separately, and the product was soon ported to other platforms. In the early 1990s, Autodesk introduced a version for the IBM PC compatible. From the 1990s onward, Autodesk and AutoCAD began to take advantage of modern programming languages, releasing an early version of AutoCAD for Visual Basic in 1993, followed by Java and.NET versions. Since 2000, AutoCAD has supported C++ and C# programming languages. AutoCAD also supports Python scripting.

In the 1990s, AutoCAD was the only solid modeling CAD software available. Many AutoCAD drawings use the DWG format for bitmap files to represent geometric models. Later AutoCAD releases (since 1997) include support for native solid modeling. This allows for the creation of solids without using surface primitives. Solid modeling of solids is supported by construction techniques such as extrusion, spline patching and wedge modeling. The later releases also support sheet metal and slot-filler modeling.

Time-saving tools
There are various automated time-saving tools that can speed up the drafting and editing process. AutoCAD® can automatically find and fix geometric errors in the drawing and their consequences. These include perspective control, snap to grid, coplanar surfaces, intersection, and intersecting faces.

AutoCAD users have also used the drawing editing functions and command palettes to automate complex tasks. For example, users can have multiple selections and run checks to make sure they meet design constraints.

Microsoft Windows and macOS

Autodesk AutoCAD software was formerly a Windows only product, but is now available for Microsoft Windows and macOS.

AutoCAD offers many more different features to the one found in AutoCAD LT. The features can be grouped into one of five product categories:
Geometric Modeling – The geometric modeling features help model the building or industrial design. These features include support for solid modeling, surface modeling, sketching (mechanical, electrical, etc.), ortho views, blocks, and section modeling.
Presentation – The presentation features help users create presentation graphics that can be used in various graphics editors. These features include support for title blocks

Update JTextField and persist it back to database

I have a JTextField and a button called Btn. I want the text to be updated automatically and the text to be stored back in the database. I’m using javax.swing.JFrame and javax.swing.JTextField.
What I’ve done so far is:
public void jButton1ActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
// TODO add your handling code here:
String count = textField1.getText();
try {
String sqlQuery = “insert into users (username,password,email) values (username,password,email)”;
pst = con.prepareStatement(sqlQuery);

} catch (Exception ex) {

New in AutoCAD 2023

Several new features have been added to AutoCAD, including the following:

Batch Edit

The Batch Edit command-line tool has been added to AutoCAD. With the new command line, you can execute batch commands (similar to macros) that are executed against multiple drawings at once, such as flattening a series of complex drawings.

Markup Imports

Automatically import and add markings to a drawing. For example, import comments, annotations, or text into your drawings with one click of a button.

Markup Assist

Easily add and review feedback. AutoCAD’s Markup Assist is a new feature that enables you to quickly and easily add text and annotations directly to your drawing, allowing you to capture and incorporate feedback without having to open the drawing first.

Open Model Graphical Interface

Make it easier to navigate across various subsets of your drawings in AutoCAD.

Jump-to view

Use the Jump-to view to open a subset of a drawing. With a simple click of a button, you can open any drawing, or an area of your drawing, with the same view that you were previously viewing.

Advanced text management

Use text tools to replace text in your drawings and manage your text in a new way.

Text Snap Functions

With the Snap function, you can easily place text on
